WNMU Volleyball Sweeps Grand Canyon

SILVER CITY – For the second time this season, Western New Mexicoo University's volleyball team swept Grand Canyon 3-0 and moved to 13-4 (2-0 PacWest) on the season. The Antelopes fell to 4-6 before a boisterous Silver City crowd.

The sweep almost didn't occur however, as WNMU trailed for the majority of the first game before coming back and taming the Lopes 30-28 after being tied at 27 all. The Mustangs then took game two 30-17 and the final game 30-21.

WNMU's Jennifer Snowbarger (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa High School) led the way offensively with 15 kills. Liz Narkon had 14 on the night and Suzie Bruchhauser checked in with 14 kills. Defensive Specialist Lauren Anicker (Kelso, WA/Kelso High School) recorded 19 digs.

Grand Canyon was led by a double-double effort by Kim Gabriel's 13 kills and 14 digs.

The Mustangs return to action on September 27 with a match with Hawaii Hilo on the Island. WNMU will then face Chaminade on Sept 29 followed by HPU and BYU-Hawaii and October 1st and 2nd.
